Soul Food at its best , Divine Catering has it all, the best atmosphere, the atmosphere there is relaxed and laid back, they also have best service, and the best value for food portion. My favorite place to go for soul food , hands down!
They have very limited hours lately because Big Mama had health issues, but she still wants to continue to serve the community. The hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 6 days a week (closed Saturdays) and that's it. The best thing to do is get there early so you can get what you want because they do stop serving fried food just before closing and you're stuck with just whatever is left around. With that said, the food is absolutely amazing. The portions are generous and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxing. You really feel like you're sitting at your granny's table on a Sunday afternoon enjoying some great home cooking. We had one plate with meatloaf macaroni and cheese and potatoes with gravy. The meatloaf and the potatoes and gravy were so delicious. The macaroni and cheese for me just wasn't what I enjoyed. It wasn't bad but it just something that I wouldn't order again. We also had a plate of chicken spaghetti with a side of purple hule peas and mac and cheese. This was husband approved and he loved everything about it.The third plate was chicken tenders with mac and cheese and french fries. This was definitely kid approved and very much enjoyed.
This place is a must go if you come to Longview. The food is absolutely Divine!!!!I've now had the beef tips and chicken fried steak.I can't wait to go back
I managed Piccadilly cafeteria back in the 90's for years and the food and especially the turnip greens here are the best I've ever had!! Keep up the good work!!!
The smothered pork chops can't be beat. So, so good. I chose for sides greens and purple hull peas. Take the opportunity when you can to experience the kind of food that's cooked with love.
Nearly perfect chicken fried steak. A little bit small but otherwise top marks across the board 14/15. The mashed potatoes were heavenly and sinful at the same time. #cfsinspector
Loved loved the food. The folk that work there are very nice. I can’t remember the guy with the shaved heads name but he was very engaging with a big smile. I saw their post on one of Longviews Facebook pages about them having Chitterlings on New Year’s Eve my wife wanted some to bring in New Year’s so I stopped there to buy some. We also got a 5pc catfish dinner w/two sides and beef tips and rice w/two sides. All was delicious. My wife has to watch her salt intake so it was good it wasn’t over salted. I added a little salt to mines. Even the cornbread was good. Next time and there will be a next time we’ll try their desserts
I eat at Hawkins pretty regularly and so love their soul food. Anything I pick off the menu is delicious — all their recipes are fantastic. Their service is great and you feel like you’ve come home the way they take care of you.
